Why we built this
There are hundreds of name generators on the web and most of them share the same flaw: they treat a name as a string of characters rather than a sequence of sounds. Cut Christopher at the halfway mark and you get chris plus topher, which is fine. Cut Siobhan at the halfway mark and you get something nobody can pronounce.
Namethistle works on syllables instead of characters, and checks every result against the consonant combinations English actually allows. That single change is why the results here are usable more often than not, rather than one time in five.
